“Summer in Igboland” is an exhibit featuring photographs of contemporary Nigeria. The photographer, Ifeanyi Awachie ‘14, was born in Nigeria in 1992 and moved to the U.S. at the age of 18 months. She returned to the country during the summer of 2013 for the first time since birth with a mind to document her homeland as she discovered it. With a focus on beauty, technology, leisure, and day-to-day life in five different regions of Nigeria, “Summer in Igboland” aims to reveal aspects of today’s Nigeria ignored by mainstream media, illuminating a vibrant country and the joys and struggles of its people.
