Resident Groups

Resident groups of the Afro-American Cultural Center (“The House”) are registered student organizations and New Haven community partners that have been integral to our center’s work since its founding in 1969 and, in some cases, as with the Black Student Alliance at Yale and Urban Improvement Corps, even predate the founding of The House.

The House’s resident groups, listed below, provide services and coordinate activities that reflect the center’s mission and values. Resident groups and their members assist in the stewardship of The House, and help build a vibrant community at the center and share The House spirit across campus.

Registered House Groups are able to:

• use meeting space for free for related events through our Reservations Request Form

• apply for funding for their organizational events that uphold The House’s values (undergrad groups only)

• promote their events through The House’s weekly newsblast and social media

• connect with the coalition of House resident groups to work on collaborations and co-sponsorships

• receive advising re: organizational development and event planning

• build connections to The House’s community partners for outreach/engagement purposes
