BCAY Serve the Nations Trip to Ghana
Dates: 8th - 18th March, 2012

Application Deadline: Sunday October 28th (by midnight).

Apply here!

BCAY’s Serve The Nations (STN) Team is organizing a Kingdom Cultural Exchange trip to Ghana for Spting break 2013! We will be working very closely with the youth of Living Streams International Church in La, Accra. Together with the youth of the church, STN will be teaching the New Horizon Special School (with handicapped children who need special care), as well as mentoring high school students in an underserved part of the La Township, Ghana. STN will also participate in a annual medical drive, providing free healthcare screenings and signing up people onto the national health scheme, together with healthcare professionals in Ghana and the church. But that’s not all! STN will also explore World Heritage sights and other touristy activities in Ghana! Our motivation for this trip is to fellowship with the church, thereby gleaning the move of God in other parts of the world whilst inspiring the youth of Living Streams to take up the mantle of serving their community! For us, we anticipate that we’ll be impacted and ministered to in such a way that we won’t leave Ghana the same! To learn more, email:metabel.markwei@yale.eduu or efe.ghanney@yale.edu

Harvard Pulic Policy and Leadership Conference

The 13th Annual Harvard Public Policy and Leadership Conference (PPLC) aims to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate programs in public policy and international affairs by informing students about opportunities for graduate study and careers in both domestic and international public policy. Only first and second year undergraduate students (U.S. citizen and permanent residents) are eligible to apply. The conference is free of charge – all expenses are covered by HKS.

Interviews with previous participants of the PPLC program can be found here:

The conference will take place February 21-24, 2013 on the HKS campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While in Cambridge participants will learn about:

· Careers in public service

· Domestic and international policy issues

· Fellowship programs

· Summer Public Policy and International Affairs Institutes

· Graduate schools that offer programs in Public Policy

· Student life

The online application is due by November 16, 2012, and is available now through the PPLC website: www.hks.harvard.edu/pplc

Boston Teacher Residency

Since 2003, we've graduated over 400 teachers who are working together across to the district toward fulfilling what we believe should be a basic promise of our democracy: a quality public education for every child, no matter what. That promise starts with great teachers.

The Boston Teacher Residency (BTR) is an innovative program in urban education that combines graduate coursework toward a Masters degree in Education with a yearlong teaching apprenticeship before placement as a full-time teacher in the Boston Public Schools (BPS). We recruit talented, committed individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds to enter a 13-month Teacher Residency modeled on a clinical teaching hospital approach; residents apply theory to practice, taking rigorous coursework and gaining extensive hands-on, practical experience in the classroom. They then continue to receive formal support and professional development during the first three years and beyond of their teaching careers.

Our mission is to drive significant student achievement gains in Boston through the recruitment, preparation, and support of exceptional teachers. Since 2003, we've graduated over 400 teachers who are working together across to the district toward fulfilling what we believe should be a basic promise of our democracy: a quality public education for every child, no matter what. That promise starts with great teachers.

Program Highlights:

● Co-teach in a collaborative teaching and learning environment under the guidance of experienced Clinical Teacher Educators

● Take coursework taught by exceptional faculty

● Earn a low-cost M.Ed. from University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), a Massachusetts Initial Teacher license, and credit toward dual license in Special Education or English as a Second Language

● Receive a generous stipend plus health benefits during the residency year

● Take advantage of our unique tuition remission agreement -- the $10K program tuition is fully waived after completion of a three-year teaching commitment in the Boston Public Schools
